Noncedo Primary School Project
The History of Partnership
During the summer of 2014, four women from KCPC traveled to South Africa and the Amatola Presbytery as part of a group sponsored by the Ubunye Partnership with the Presbytery of Northern New England. Along the way they visited the Noncedo Primary School in North Ducats SA. The school is located in a former farm house and the adjoining sheds. The Sterling Presbyterian Church in East London, SA was already working with the school to assist with the physical needs and maintenance of school buildings as well as the care of the 400 to 450 students who range in age of about 5 to 15.
Almost immediately, one of the KCPC delegates, Melissa Smart, an environmental scientist, was drawn to the unsanitary conditions of the toilet facilities used by the students and staff as well as the cramped conditions of the 2 cargo units used as classrooms for approximately 80 of the youngest children. The pictures show only a portion of the facilities but highlight that basic facility improvements are needed such as additional classrooms, functioning and sufficient toilets, a solid waste disposal area and a more secure fence for the entire property. Thus was the seed of entering into partnership with the Sterling Presbyterian Church.
The Project: Raise $15,000 for
For a total cost of $15,000 (U.S.D.), Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church plans to partner with the Sterling Presbyterian Church in East London, SA to build a wooden classroom similar to the picture above and develop plans for new toilets for the students and faculty of the Noncedo School. Ongoing support will assist in the maintenance and security of the new classroom.

There are no administrative costs here in the USA or in SA, therefore 100% of your donation will go to work at the Noncedo School. There is a transaction fee KCPC incurs to safely send money to SA. The fee is covered by the church and does not impact your gift to this project. Thank you for your generosity and your support!
